WASHINGTON, D.C. (Michigan News Source) – While the president continues to face Democratic resistance to everything he has been doing to Make America Great Again, Michigan Democratic U.S. Rep. Hillary Scholten wants you to start focusing on what really matters: how often Donald Trump golfs.

Rep. Scholten is teed off.

In a recent fundraising email, Scholten rants about Trump’s reported $23 million in “golf” expenses during his presidency. She says it’s “painful hypocrisy of an administration trying to take lifesaving Medicaid away from American citizens in the name of waste and fraud, and the President is using our taxpayer dollars to golf at his own resorts.”

Scholten gets her figures from the leftist media website “The Guardian” who says “Since he took office, Trump has fired tens of thousands of federal workers and tried to shut down agencies, part of his effort to unilaterally dismantle the government. He has also made seven trips to Florida and the golf courses he owns there.”

Scholten ignored the Sunbather-in-Chief.

What Scholten and her anti-Trump media pals fail to mention is that Trump’s weekend trips to Mar-a- Lago are often working weekends – like during his trade talks in January with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.

This is in contrast to Biden’s Delaware beach getaways, which looked more like taxpayer-funded tanning sessions. From January 20, 2021 to January 20, 2025, Biden made frequent trips to his homes in Wilmington or Rehoboth Beach. By May of 2024, he had made 100 trips to Delaware according to White House correspondent Mark Knoller.

But Scholten had nothing to say about Biden’s frequent Delaware escapes, his increasingly light work schedule, or his early “lids” during his workweeks.

Scholten’s survey swings for cash.

At the end of her fundraising email, Scholten includes a “survey,” asking if taxpayer dollars should fund presidential golf trips. Spoiler alert: the “survey” will likely be used to justify more campaign emails begging for more money.

So while Scholten talks a big game about fiscal responsibility, she’s mostly just upset she doesn’t control where your tax dollars are landing. If it’s not going to her pet projects, Democratic ideological crusades or Biden’s beach outings, it’s apparently an outrage.
