LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — Ford is recalling more than a quarter-million Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs across the country after discovering a defect that could compromise brake performance and raise the risk of crashes.
The recall covers 2022 to 2024 models and follows at least 45 reports of front brake line leaks, according to federal safety documents and the Associated Press. The issue stems from brake lines that may have been installed too close to the engine’s air cleaner outlet pipe, causing wear and fluid loss over time.

The company estimates that only about one percent of the 273,789 recalled vehicles carry the issue. No crashes or injuries have been reported.
Warning signs for drivers may include increased brake pedal travel or decreased responsiveness. A red brake alert light may also appear if fluid levels drop significantly.
Dealers will perform inspections and replace any compromised parts as needed, free of charge.
Ford will begin mailing notifications to affected owners between May 26 and May 30.
