ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Capturing their second straight Big Ten Championship last weekend, Michigan earned a trip to Texas for the NCAA Tournament. Michigan won four consecutive games in the Big Ten Tournament, upsetting no. 8 UCLA, 2-0, in the championship game to earn the automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Lauren Derkowski was the Tournament Most Outstanding Player, allowing no runs on three hits and a walk in her outing. In three days, she teamed up with Erin Hoehn for two shutout wins over top 10 programs. Michigan scored two runs in the sixth inning vs. UCLA as Jenissa Conway and Ella Stephenson each had an RBI.

Michigan will now make its 31st appearance in the NCAA Tournament, facing Central Florida on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2. The Wolverines are 90-25 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and have won 18 regional titles. The two teams have met six times since 2020, but they have only won two games.

With a 38-19 record, Michigan was the eighth seed in the Big Ten Tournament, going 11-11. Their best record is playing on a neutral field at 21-5.

The Regional will occur at the University of Texas Red and Charlie McCombs Field.
