LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — Stellantis has appointed Antonio Filosa as its next CEO, ending a six-month search as the automaker looks to stabilize operations following double-digit sales declines in the U.S.

Filosa, 51, will assume the role June 23. A company veteran of 25 years, he currently oversees the Americas and has been based out of Stellantis’ Auburn Hills office since 2021.

“This place is in my blood,” Filosa wrote on LinkedIn following the announcement on May 28. He said he plans to visit “as many locations as possible” before taking office.

The company’s board voted unanimously to promote Filosa. He replaces Carlos Tavares, who resigned in December amid weakening profits and ongoing fallout from global tariffs. According to The Detroit News, Stellantis recorded a 15% drop in U.S. sales last year and a further 12% decline in the first quarter of 2025.

Filosa has led Stellantis’ North American operations since October and was later named chief operating officer of the Americas and chief quality officer. He previously managed the automaker’s South American division and started with the company as a night-shift quality supervisor at a plant in Spain.

Filosa is expected to announce a new leadership team following his formal start. A shareholder vote is required to confirm him to the company’s board.
