LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) —The days of casual commutes and kitchen-table meetings are numbered at Ford.

Starting Sept. 1, salaried employees will be expected on-site four days a week, as the automaker tightens its return-to-office policy in a push for performance.

Managers will set which days teams report in, but the shift marks a clear departure from the three-day schedule Ford adopted in 2022, according to The Detroit News. The company says more in-person time will help fuel its transformation into what it calls a “higher-growth, higher-margin” business.

“We believe working together in person on a day-to-day basis will help accelerate Ford’s transformation,” spokesperson Ian Thibodeau said.

Ford reported $471 million in net income last quarter—down 64% year over year—and recently suspended its full-year guidance due to tariff uncertainties.
