LIVONIA, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Livonia Public Schools published budget documents that showed the “fiscal cliff” so many municipalities have dreaded has arrived.
The budget document shows that Livonia’s school district received $5.85 million in federal COVID-19 money in 2023-24 and the district didn’t have any left this year in 2024-25, although it has originally budgeted for $1.2 million in federal COVID-19 dollars for this year. The district had no federal COVID-19 money budgeted for 2025-26. The last of the federal pandemic relief money has to be spent by the end of 2026.

Livonia Public Schools’ general fund budget was $216.5 million in 2023-24 and increased to $216.6 million in the final budget amendment in 2024-25.
The district’s original 2024-25 budget, which ends June 30, had it in a spending deficit where it was relying on its reserves to balance the budget.
