ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Ann Arbor Public Schools is an example of how costly it will be to replace all the non-electric buses in the country.
The public school district is like many other municipalities in the U.S. trying to make their fleet of buses more environmentally friendly.

Ann Arbor Public Schools posted a document that shows it plans to purchase four standard electric buses at the cost of $453,110 per bus. The total cost is estimated at $1.8 million.
That’s far more expensive than the traditional non-electric alternative. DeVivo Bus Sales estimated on June 10 that the conventional school bus – the most common used in the U.S. – can range from $105,000 to $150,000.
The state of Kentucky’s Department of Education put out a 2025 price list for buses. The traditional type C school bus ranged in price from $129,100 to $145,600. A type C electric school bus costs $396,900.
