LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A 31-point second quarter for the DC Defenders put the game out of reach for the Michigan Panthers as they fell in the UFL Championship game, 58-34. Malik Turner led the Panthers with 10 catches for 169 yards and three touchdowns.

Former Saginaw Valley State running back Nate McCrary had 62 yards and a touchdown, which came on the opening drive from 35 yards out.

Michigan led early, 13-6, after the first quarter, but the 31-point second quarter by DC ended any thoughts of a championship for the Panthers, as the Defenders had a 37-19 lead at halftime. Michigan made a late run in the fourth quarter, scoring 15 straight points by converting two fourth-and-12 possessions. These possessions were used instead of an onside kick in the UFL.

The DC offense proved too much to handle overall, finishing with 572 yards of total offense. Michigan’s Bryce Perkins finished with 338 yards passing, four touchdowns, and one interception. The Panthers finished with a record of 7-5.
