EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State University reached a legal settlement with three of the five survivors of the Feb. 13, 2023 campus shooting.

MSU has agreed to pay a total of $29.75 million to Nathan Statly, Troy Forbush and Yukai “John” Hao. All three suffered life-altering gunshot wounds. Statly received $14.25 million; his head injury from the shooting will require extensive medical treatment and ongoing care. Forbush received $2.5 million; his gunshot wound to the chest resulted in surgery and follow-up therapy. Hao was paralyzed from the chest down after being shot in the back.

Gurel Mills and Grewel Law represented the three students and released a statement. “These settlements bring closure to one chapter of these survivors’ healing journeys.”
