DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Bolstering their defense, Detroit traded for Anaheim Ducks goalie John Gibson on Saturday. The veteran is the best available goalie this offseason.

Gibson has a .910 career save percentage, allowing just 2.89 goals per game. In his rookie season of 2016-16, he was seventh in the Calder and Vezina Trophy voting. He spent his 12-year career in Anaheim and was a second-round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft.

Anaheim receives goalie Petr Mrazek, a 2026 fourth-round selection, and a 2027 second-round selection. Mrazek will head to his sixth NHL team in 14 seasons and went 12-21-2 last year with Chicago and Detroit.
