Detroit manager A.J. Hinch says, “I think a lot of guys warrant that type of recognition. Whether they ultimately end up in the All-Star game or not. We’re proud of how we’re playing. We’re proud of the group we have and we’ve had to us a lot of different guys.”
The voting will take place on MLB.com/vote, allowing fans to cast their votes for the team. The first phase of voting by fans ends on June 26 at noon, and fans can submit up to five ballots per day. Detroit is looking for its first All-Star starter since 2015 Miguel Cabrera in 2015.
Hinch added, “It wasn’t too long ago when we’d have only a couple of guys that you would mention as potential all stars. Now it’s multiple guys. We’re trying to win as many games as we can and you can’t do that without a lot of talented players. I think that’s where this recognition is coming from.”
From June 30 to July 2, finalists will be selected and voted on.
