The University of Florida 2025 commit, Jordan Yost, is now a Detroit Tiger. Yost, a recent high school graduate, was selected as the No. 24 pick by Detroit in the MLB first round.

The MLB.com scouting report said of Yost, “The Florida prepster is a late bloomer who didn’t do much on the summer showcase circuit and wasn’t considered much of a prospect at all until recently. Added physicality in the fall has led to better results in his senior year at Sickles High School in Tampa, leading to teams showing a lot more interest in the early rounds.”

Yost is a late bloomer by most analysts and had him down on the draft board. Tigers scouting director Mark Conner said, “This is a kid who walked into high school weighing 115 pounds. It just took time to mature. Our guys scouted him during the summer, during fall, during the spring. Pretty early on in the spring, our group identified him as a target. If that was gonna lead to the first round or one of our picks through the draft, we really liked the swing, liked defensive actions. We had been scouting him for a while.”

The Perfect Game Draft said in a X.com post on Yost, “Yost is a young from the grade. Patient approach with balanced approach in the batters’ box. Plus bat speed and checks off boxes. Tons of helium this spring – late bloomer.”

He is the younger brother of Florida baseball player Hayden Yost.
