LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Gas prices nationwide, and in Michigan, fell to a four-year low over the Independence Day holiday.
The Trump administration – and Americans – are not tired of winning.

“Following the cheapest Independence Day gas prices in four years, drivers across America continue to enjoy plummeting prices — boosting family budgets and fueling economic growth from coast to coast,” a White House press release said, which also echoed reports from major media outlets nationwide.
The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas dipped to $3.14 as of Monday morning. One year ago, Americans paid $3.50 per gallon to fill up.
On Monday morning, gas prices of $3.13 per gallon greeted Michiganders. Those prices are down nearly seven cents from one week ago, and 43 cents less than last year.
Patrick De Haan with GasBuddy said prices are dropping due to increase oil production from OPEC and cooling tensions overseas. He said the lead up to the Independence Day weekend – and beyond – could see prices continuing their downward trend. “As long as tensions don’t escalate again in the Middle East and the U.S. isn’t threatened by a major hurricane, we could see the national average fall below $3 per gallon later this summer.”
AAA officials echoed the same thoughts. “Lower oil prices helped make this Independence Day one of the most affordable in recent years,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA.
