DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Wednesday afternoon brought great news to Detroit as the Red Wings signed their NHL First Round pick, Carter Bear. Announcing his signing on their X account, Detroit and Bear agreed to a three-year entry-level deal. The entry-level deal is for 18 and 19-year-old players and runs for three years.

Bear will most likely be with the WHL’s Everett Silvertips next season for development. His 2024-25 season in the WHL was strong, as he compiled 40 goals, 42 assists, and 82 points and made the WHL’s Western Conference Second All-Star team.

The Winnipeg native has been a member of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL)-USA Prospects Challenge. He played most of the 2022-23 season with the Winnipeg Thrashers of the Manitoba U18 Hockey League, where he was the MVP and earned a spot on the First All-Star team. He boasted 59 points, 32 goals, and 27 assists.
