TROY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The city of Troy approved ballot language for a $137 million bond it wants to put on the November 4 ballot.

If approved, Troy’s $137 million bond would be used for a new public library ($75 million), road improvements ($35 million), equipment for city recreation facilities ($17 million) and public safety ($10 million). The city approved making the bond payable over 20 years.

The city is putting the proposal before the voters at a time when Oakland County residents have been very receptive to tax increases.

According to the city, 25 of the 33 bond proposals in Oakland County from 2020 to 2024 were approved by voters.

The breakdown of the 33 bond proposals included 4 township proposals, 6 city proposals, and 23 school district proposals.
