LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) After decades of serving Lansing’s homeless out of scattered sites, the City Rescue Mission finally has a new home base.

The Christian nonprofit, which describes itself as “dedicated to serving men, women, and children in Michigan’s capital area,” opened a new shelter on West Kalamazoo Street, giving its guests stability, hot meals, and centralized services.

The facility welcomed its first 100 men on August 27. By year’s end,  Executive Director Mark Criss said it will house more than 400 people—including women, children, and walk-ins—and serve over 400 meals a day.

“This is the finishing of the first phase,” Criss told WLNS 6 News. “We provide a good quality meal, and we always provide a hot meal at dinner time. And we also provide a continental breakfast as well.”

The new space is designed with dignity in mind: fresh beds, clean bathrooms, and a steady base for recovery.
