DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Detroit played its final preseason game on Saturday afternoon, losing to the Houston Texans, 26-7. It was the coaches’ final chance to evaluate players before submitting their final 53-man roster in the coming week.

Kyle Allen went 5-of-5 passing for 114 yards and one touchdown, and Isaac TeSlaa had two catches for 41 yards and a touchdown. Allen found TeSlaa in the first quarter to take the lead, 7-3, with 1:52 on the clock.

Head coach Dan Campbell said of Allen and TeSlaa, “I was pleased with both of those guys. It’s good to see Kyle really take it to where he’s gone.” He added on TeSlaa, “There’s a place for him to help us early in this season.”

Jacob Saylors led with 32 yards rushing on nine carries, and Loren Strickland and Trevor Nowaske had nine tackles.

Detroit opens the NFL regular season on September 7 in Green Bay at 4:25 p.m.
