OTTAWA LAKE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – What started as plans for an ordinary round of golf evolved into unexpected gains when 68-year-old Donovan Reynolds from Ohio wound up with a Powerball fore–tune worth $150,000.
Michigan lottery officials say that on July 23, Reynolds teed up a win in Powerball – and instead of concentrating on golf balls, he matched four white balls (02-18-19-25-35, PB 25) – for a base prize of $50,000. Thanks to his Power Play multiplier, that payday was boosted into a six-figure championship.

The ticket that turned his day out “on the links” into a day at the bank was purchased at Big Daddy’s Truck Stop in Ottawa Lake – about 40 miles south of Ann Arbor.
Reynolds told Michigan lottery officials, “I typically play Powerball in Ohio, but I was in Michigan for the day golfing, so I bought my ticket while I was here. I checked the winning numbers the next day and froze when I saw I matched four white balls and the Powerball. I was stunned! I have been playing these numbers for awhile and they finally paid off.”
Next up: college fund for his daughter.
Reynolds went to the lottery headquarters and claimed his prize already – and rather than splurge on tee time extensions or a lifetime supply of golf tees, Reynolds plans to take his celebratory swing right into his daughter’s college fund.
