WASHINGTON, D.C. (Michigan News Source) – Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook can stay in her bureaucratic role for now after a court ruling on Tuesday.

However, the Trump administration will likely appeal the federal court ruling.

President Donald Trump fired Cook on Aug. 25 after allegations of mortgage fraud surfaced around two of her homes, including one in Michigan. Cook claimed Michigan as her primary residence when she also held a home in Georgia. A report concluded renters are living in the Cook Michigan residence, not Cook herself. A possible third home owned by Cook has popped up during the investigation.

Among other things, the Federal Reserve is responsible for setting short-term interest and mortgage rates.

An investigation continues around Cook’s alleged mortgage fraud which could land her in prison for 30 years.
