“Bring these empires down.”
The Middle East Media Research Institute originally posted the video on April 16 and it received just 1.8k views. It posted the video this dialogue: “An attendee at a fundraiser for Middle East Children’s Alliance and poetry night held at the Newora Café in Dearborn Heights stated that while the people of Gaza have achieved victory, the people in the United States have not done enough. He emphasized that change must come, saying, ‘This American empire has been hurting our people from the beginning.’
In addition, he said the ‘imperial Western powers must fall, and inshallah, they will fall.’ He continued, stating that there are ‘people here who are willing to fight and put their lives on the line to bring these empires down, because they must come down.’ The event was organized in conjunction with the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM).”

Michigan’s Arab population.
Wayne County, home to about 140,000 Arab Americans, has generated a lot of news recently. The Dearborn Heights Police Department announced earlier this month it would add Arabic script to its police patch, a decision it later recanted after a negative reaction.
The city of Dearborn made news this month when it renamed a street after resident Osama Siblani, who reportedly praised Hezbollah leaders as “heroes.” Muslim Mayor Abdullah Hammoud told Christian Ted Barham that Barham was an Islamophobe, that Barham was not welcome in the city and that the mayor would launch a parade the day Barham left the city.
The Palestinian Youth Movement didn’t respond to an email. Mo Baydoun, a Dearborn Heights city council member who is running for mayor, didn’t respond to an email seeking comment. The Council on American-Islamic Relations Michigan Chapter didn’t respond to an email.
