NEWAYGO, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — In Newaygo, one man’s Facebook post nearly cost a brewery its customers.
Nick Looman, brewmaster and co-owner of Newaygo Brewing Company, took to Facebook on Sept. 21—the same day as Charlie Kirk’s memorial—and called the slain conservative activist “evil” and a “stooge.” Within hours, boycott threats started pouring in.

By September 22, the brewery announced Looman’s suspension without pay, distancing itself from comments that staff said “caused hurt” and “do not reflect the values of our company,” MLive reported.
Looman later apologized, but not before the fallout brewed beyond control.
Co-owner Krista Veal said the company had to act fast to protect its 20-plus employees and reputation. “We can have different opinions and challenge each other,” she said, “but it doesn’t have to be so cutthroat and just mean.”
