EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State University filed a motion to dismiss a sexual assault survivor advocate’s lawsuit against its trustees.
The story behind the case has mired MSU in legal battles and negative publicity for several years. Former head football coach Mel Tucker brought Tracy to campus several years ago to educate his team about sexual misconduct in the wake of the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal. Tracy founded “Set the Expectation.” According to the website, Tracy “survived a brutal gang rape by four college football players” in 1998.

In 2022, Tracy claimed Tucker sexually harassed her in a phone call and filed a federal lawsuit against the trustees later that year. Tucker described the phone call as mutual “phone sex.”
MSU fired Tucker in 2023 and released him from the remainder of his 10-year, $95 million contract after the sexual harassment complaint by Tracy became public.
Since the firing, Tucker has filed several lawsuits against MSU over his firing, and is involved in divorce proceedings from his wife.
