LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — A Vassar Public Schools teacher is off the job for now after posting online about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The district confirmed the suspension on September 11, less than 24 hours after Kirk was fatally shot during a university event, according to WNEM News.

Superintendent Steve Clark sent a letter to parents making it clear that the remarks came from one individual and not the school system as a whole.

“The teacher’s comments do not reflect the sentiments of the school district’s leadership or the Board of Education,”  Clark said. He added that the district is reviewing the matter with legal counsel.

Clark closed by stressing that the district will continue to be transparent when issues arise.
