LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A handful of airports in Michigan are grounding a video from U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in which she lays the blame for the government shutdown at the Democrat Party’s feet.

Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Flint Bishop International Airport, and Capital Region International Airport in Lansing are choosing to not air the video requested by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). In the video intended to be played at security checkpoints, Noem warns about staffing limitations since TSA workers are not receiving pay during the shutdown. Sticking points in Congress stem from Republicans passing a continuing resolution to keep the government funded for several more weeks, while Democrats balked unless it could include healthcare funding for illegal aliens.

“It is TSA’s top priority to make sure that you have the most pleasant airport experience as possible while we keep you safe. However, Democrats in Congress refuse to fund the federal government.” Noem said in the video. She added, “Because of this, many of our operations are impacted.”

According to media reports, Ford International indicated that the video isn’t being played because it hasn’t seen much of a disruption in operations, and Flint Bishop echoed similar sentiments. Lansing officials cited the partisan and political nature of the video as the reason for not playing it.

Detroit Metropolitan Airport officials said they are playing the video in TSA-leased space at the airport.

Michigan isn’t the only state saying no to the video. Airports in Northern California, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, Charlotte, Phoenix, and Seattle assert the video’s political content goes against airport policies and regulations.
