DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Detroit police are investigating after one of its officers appeared during a Zoom court hearing sans pants.
The officer identified himself as Matthew Jackson during the Oct. 27 hearing in 36th District Court. He appeared in court that day as a witness for a reckless driving and public intoxication case against a woman. Jackson did sport his Detroit Police Department uniform shirt with underwear.

You got some pants on, officer?” the judge asked.
Jackson replied, “No, sir,” before moving the camera up so his underwear was no longer visible. The hearing went on as planned.

Detroit police officials plan to remind officer of proper etiquette when appearing in court, whether in person or virtually.
The 36th District Court does enforce a dress code. According to a statement on its website, “Casual business attire is preferred. Prohibited attire includes shorts (cut-offs), skorts, sleeveless shirts (tank tops), hats/caps (except those worn for cultural or religious purposes) and other clothing which is not suitable in a Court or any other professional environment.”
