WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Authorities have confirmed that the body recovered November 25 in Manistee National Forest is that of Rebecca Park, the 22-year-old Michigan woman who vanished while about 38 weeks pregnant.

A Wexford County press release confirmed that an autopsy identified the body as Park’s, though her cause of death remains undetermined. Authorities also say the newborn she was carrying was not found with her.

Local and state officers from the Wexford County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police are coordinating with additional law enforcement units including the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Cadillac Police Department, the FBI and other agencies, collaborating to find out what happened to Park and her baby. Because it’s an active investigation, Wexford County Sheriff Trent J. Taylor says “the information that can be released is extremely limited at this time.”

Meanwhile, two people close to Park – her fiancé, Richard Lee Falor, and her sister, Kimberly Park – remain jailed. Falor faces methamphetamine-delivery charges and habitual offender fourth offense notice, while Kimberly is charged with tampering with evidence, lying to police, and filing a false report of a felony. Neither has yet been accused in connection with Park’s death.

Adoptive mother breaks silence.

Stephanie Park, the adoptive mother of Rebecca Park, has finally spoken out publicly for the first time since the pregnant woman’s disappearance. She told reporters with 9&10 News that she raised Park from infancy (she’d been adopted along with two siblings), and emphasized her family loved Rebecca deeply – describing her as a troubled but loving woman who deserves to be remembered as the sweet girl that she was. She said her family remained silent initially to protect themselves, but wanted the public to know Rebecca came from “a middle-class family in a very nice situation.”

The probe is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call the Wexford County tip line at 231-306-2072.
