ADRIAN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A man accused of murdering his three sons in 2010 isn’t going anywhere.

John Skelton is being held on a $60 million bond after being charged last week with open murder and tampering with evidence. Skelton had been set for release this month after serving a 10-15 year prison sentence for not returning the boys to their mother after a visitation.

Officials: Skelton remains “uncooperative.”

Skelton remains lodged in the Lenawee County Jail after Monday’s arraignment. Officials describe Skelton as “uncooperative” with investigators, which has been a common theme since the boys disappeared. Law enforcement last interviewed Skelton on Nov. 3.

The boys, Andrew (9), Alexander (7), and Tanner (5), were reported missing just after Thanksgiving Day in 2010 following a visit to their father’s house in Morenci. Skelton and the boys’ mother, Tanya Zuvers, were in the middle of a divorce.

A large-scale investigation and search effort did not yield any trace of the boys.

Continued search efforts.

At Zuvers’ request, a judge declared the three boys legally dead in March. Despite extensive efforts during the last 15 years, their bodies have never been found. Zuvers, previously claimed Skelton was responsible for killing the boys. The couple was getting divorced that fall, something authorities say Skelton “did not want.”

A probable cause affidavit tied to Skelton’s recent charges detail what followed when Zuvers arrived to pick up her sons on Nov. 26, 2010.

“A search of Skelton’s Internet search history revealed that within a week of the boys’ disappearance, he searched different ways to kill a person.” Thanksgiving Day marked the last time someone saw the boys playing in the yard.

Skelton maintains that he turned his three boys over to a group called the “Underground Sanctuary.” However, law enforcement officials said “no such organization has been found to exist” and search efforts turned up no trace of the boys.
