LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – When Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel recently joined yet another lawsuit challenging the Donald Trump administration, it centered around the government recognizing just two genders.
This time, the dispute between Nessel and Trump involved how the federal government addresses homelessness.

Trump’s U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued a ruling recently that halted enforcement of its “Gender Identity Rule.” That rule, embraced by the Joe Biden administration, forbid housing programs and shelters funded by HUD from questioning the gender of people seeking assistance.
The problem, according to the Trump administration, hinged on the policy that allowed biological men to enter shelters intended for women impacted by trauma, domestic abuse, and violence.
It also made the HUD policy consistent with Trump’s policy of a “biological truth” that there are just two genders.
That was one of the reasons Nessel stated she joined the lawsuit, stating “HUD will withhold funds from applicants that acknowledge the existence of trans and gender-diverse people …”
