LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — If Christmas plans include a toast, Michigan law suggests doing your shopping sooner rather than later.
Alcohol sales across the state end earlier than usual for the holiday, stopping purchases late on Christmas Eve and resuming at noon on Christmas Day for bars, restaurants and retailers statewide.

The age requirement doesn’t change—buyers must be 21 or older—though sellers are still barred from serving anyone who appears intoxicated, holiday or not.
Out-of-state purchases are allowed within limits, and some alcohol deliveries are legal through licensed retailers and third-party services. Shipping, however, remains tightly regulated, with major carriers enforcing strict rules.
Holiday rules ease up for New Year’s Eve, allowing bars to serve until 4 a.m. on Jan. 1, but Christmas will remain on a much tighter clock.
