LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — Lansing School District athletic events just got harder for some students to attend.
Under a new policy taking effect immediately, only students from the participating Lansing high school or the visiting high school will be admitted with a student ID. Students from any other school will be turned away, even though Lansing games are normally open to the public.

“We have had minor incidents of people from outside the district coming to sporting events and not respecting our code of conduct,” district spokesperson Ryan Gilding said. “We thought it best to get a handle on this as soon as possible.”
Parents and family members will also be required to show ID at the gate, while students in eighth grade and below may still attend with a parent or guardian.
