ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday afternoon after a 24-hour period involving his firing from the university and alleged assault charges.
The Pittsfield Township Police Department issued a statement saying law enforcement officers detained Moore around 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday. Police booked him into the Washtenaw County Jail.

“The Pittsfield Police Department responded to the above location at the above date and time for the purposes of investigating an alleged assault,” a statement read. “The department has received multiple media requests for information. A suspect in this case was taken into custody. This incident does not appear to be random in nature, and there appears to be no ongoing threat to the community. The suspect was lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail.”
Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel said he fired Moore “with cause” over an inappropriate relationship with a staffer. He said Moore’s behavior “constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.” Biff Poggi is now the interim head coach.
