LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan had 36,238 people still without power after a series of high wind and snow storms swept through on Monday.

The central eastern part of Michigan was hit the hardest. Clare County had 7,027 customers without power as of 1 p.m. Tuesday. Marquette County in the Upper Peninsula had 4,263 customers without power. The data comes from PowerOutage.us.

The Midwest was hit by what meteorologists refer to as a bomb cyclone. The Weather Channel states a bomb cyclone is a rapidly strengthening storm that brings high winds up to 50 miles-per-hour and blizzards. The National Weather Service stated Monday’s storm was expected to bring wind gusts as high as 60 mph as well as up to seven inches of snow.

Consumers Energy said it had 24,835 people without power as of 1:20 p.m. Tuesday. The utility company warned of downed wires due to the wind.
