LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Don’t blame the teachers for the lack of academic achievement in Michigan. At least, according to the latest evaluations of the state’s teachers.

In 2024-25, 98% of the teachers in Michigan’s K-12 districts were given the highest rating by their local school districts. Just 2% were given the second highest rating and statistically, 0% were given the lowest rating.

The 2024-25 school year was the first time teachers were evaluated using new categories. Gone was the old system where teachers were rated as “highly effective,” “effective,” “minimally effective,” and “ineffective.” In its place were three ratings of “effective,” “developing,” and “needing support.”

There were 110,886 teachers rated as “effective” in 2024-25. There were 2,468 teachers rated as “developing.” There were just 322 teachers rated as “needing support,” which was less than 1%.
