LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — While no Michigan football team will appear in the Super Bowl this year, three rescue pups from the state are still heading to game day.
Dan of Kalamazoo and Shishi and Mia Muffin of Muskegon have been selected to compete in Puppy Bowl XXII, the annual animal adoption showcase airing ahead of the Super Bowl.

“Puppy Bowl XXII celebrates the spirit of the underdog with a gameday celebration that combines the excitement of a sports matchup with uplifting adoption stories,” Joseph Boyle, Discovery Channel’s head of content, said.
Dan and Shishi will play for Team Ruff, while Mia Muffin joins Team Fluff, as part of a 150-puppy lineup drawn from shelters across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
Now in its 22nd year, the Puppy Bowl returns Feb. 8, with Team Fluff and Team Ruff once again competing for the tongue-in-cheek Lombarky Trophy. Michigan dogs have made repeat appearances in recent years, including pups from Muskegon and Harbor Springs in last year’s lineup.
All of the dogs featured in the Puppy Bowl are rescue animals eligible for adoption.
