AUSTIN, Texas (Michigan News Source) – A Texas congressional candidate said she does not want her state to resemble Michigan with its growing Islamic influence in Dearborn and elsewhere.
Valentina Gomez is a Republican running for U.S. Congress in Texas’ 31st Congressional District and is on the ballot for the March 3, 2026 primary.

She posted a video on X earlier this month that said, “I’m trying to achieve the impossible to save Texas. I don’t want what happened to Minnesota & Michigan happen to the Lone Star State.”
Gomez is the latest example of how Michigan is gaining nationwide notoriety for what has been referred to as the Islamization of Dearborn.
In December, residents in Alabama held up signs that said, “Give an inch … Dearborn” while protesting the proposed expansion of an Islamic school in the town of Hoover.
Gomez has pinned as her tweet, “Islam has no place in Texas.”
Gomez also posted, “I stole that mic during the muslim capitol day & the rest is history.” In the video she posted on X, Gomez was wearing a hijab, took it off once she got to a microphone and said, “Islam is the religion of rape …” before being cut off.
She took a flamethrower to a Quran in a campaign video last fall.
