CANTON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Shi’ite Islamic Scholar Sayed Saleh Qazwini said that the United States and Israel are arming and supporting protesters in Iran to create chaos and topple the government, according to a pro-Israel watchdog group.
“Its baby Israel.”
The Middle East Media Research Institute (MERMI) posted a link to a YouTube video of Qazwini and the comments he made Jan. 16 at the Muslim Educational Community Center of America in Canton. MEMRI tracks comments made from Muslim scholars throughout the U.S.

MEMRI wrote: “Qazwini said that ‘all the U.S. does” is seek chaos and division, particularly in the Middle East, because it is willing to do whatever it takes for ‘its baby Israel.'”
In addition, MEMRI stated that Qazwini “implied” that President Donald Trump is involved in killing of Iranian protesters. Qazwini said the Iranian regime didn’t benefit from killing its own people.
“We need to understand that the current situation that is going on in Iran is politically motivated, and there are outside force, in particular Israel, which has admitted that they are supporting the protesters and arming them and giving them … And trying to topple the government there and trying to cause chaos in the country,” Qazwini said.
The killing of protestors in Iran.
USA Today reported that 5,000 protesters have been killed in Iran who are protesting the religious government that has been running the country since 1979. The U.S. Department of State said, “The constitution defines the country as an Islamic republic and specifies Twelver Ja’afari Shia Islam as the official state religion.”
In response, Trump posted Jan. 16 on Truth Social that he appreciated that Iraq put off the planned hangings of more than 800 people.
“I greatly respect the fact that all scheduled hangings, which were to take place yesterday (Over 800 of them), have been cancelled by the leadership of Iran. Thank you!” Trump posted.
