GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – An upwards of 30 vehicles slipped and slid down a stretch of M-6, a connector between I-196 and I-96, near Grand Rapids on Tuesday morning, causing a pileup as winter weather pummeled Michigan.
First responders freed a semi-truck driver from being pinned and treated him for a minor injury. The pileup happened in the eastbound lanes past 60th Street SE in Cascade Township, south of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

Vehicles slid into the ditch and median with multiple semi-trucks stretched sideways across the lanes. Numerous police cruisers, fire trucks and tow trucks responded to help drivers. Grand Rapids city buses took stranded drivers to a reunification center at the Cascade Township branch of the Kent District Library. In addition, the Salvation Army sent an emergency canteen to support the crash response.
Clean up and the investigation into the pileup closed eastbound M-6.
