MUNICH, Germany (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer embarked on her second trip to Europe this year, but she’s making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Whitmer, a possible 2028 Democratic presidential contender, sat down with U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and U.S. Ambassador NATO Matthew Whitaker to discuss foreign policy at the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

The moderator asked Whitmer, “On Ukraine, what does victory look like?”
Whitmer stammered for a few seconds, and then responded: “The two that I am on the panel with are much more steeped in foreign policy than a Governor is. I do think that Ukraine’s independence, keeping their land mass and having the support of all the allies, I think, is the goal.”
Whitmer concluded with, “Go ahead ambassador, do a better job.”

Last week, Whitmer announced her trip to Germany and said she’ll focus on bringing international investment to Michigan. On Monday, Whitmer’s office said she will be heading from Germany to Italy, where she will be “advancing defense, manufacturing, and global partnerships.”
