DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Andrea Bradley-Baskin is a sitting judge with Michigan’s 36th District Court accused of being involved in a scheme to embezzle money from people in need of support and care.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office Eastern District of Michigan alleged four defendants conspired to systematically embezzle funds from wards, people the government said were in need of help with their personal and financial affairs.

The four people charged were Nancy Williams, Avery Bradley, Andrea Bradley-Baskin and Dwight Rashad.
Bradley-Baskin is alleged to have used $70,000 in a ward’s money to buy ownership in a local bar. In another allegation, Bradley, Williams and Rashard took $203,000 from a ward’s legal settlement and used it for other purposes that didn’t benefit the ward.
Here’s how the embezzlement occurred, according to the press release:
Rashad operated a series of group homes and residential facilities for elderly individuals, including wards, who needed support and care.
Williams owned Guardian and Associates, an agency the Wayne County Probate Court appointed as fiduciary for incapacitated people in more than 1,000 cases.
Avery Bradley is an attorney whose daughter is Andrea Bradley-Baskin. They operated a law firm that represented Guardian and Associates in Wayne County Probate Court.
Bradley-Baskin has served the 36th District Court since 2023, according to the court’s website. She was previously the General Counsel for the court before being elected to her judicial seat in 2024.
Attempts to reach Bradley-Baskin were not successful.
