EMPIRE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan’s iconic Sleeping Bear Dunes is making waves worldwide after TripAdvisor named it the fourth best “one-of-a-kind” beach on the planet.
The Northern Michigan gem marked the only site in the state to make the travel platform’s prestigious Travelers’ Choice Awards list. The rankings are based on a year’s worth of standout reviews from TripAdvisor users.

Out of 8 million listings worldwide, fewer than 1% earn the Travelers’ Choice distinction, which draws from 80 million reviews and contributions highlighting the best in global travel. Towering 450 feet above Lake Michigan, the park’s dramatic, steep sand dunes help set it apart as one of the most unique beaches on the planet.
Sleeping Bear Dunes shared the global spotlight with 18 other locations, including beaches in Hawaii, the Bahamas, Australia, Italy and Brazil.
But Sleeping Bear Dunes isn’t just for summer crowds. Last month, British internet influencers “Josh and Jase” visited Michigan for three weeks. Among other adventures, they took their sleds down the iconic dunes.
