MUNICH, Germany (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Democratic U.S. Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin made a claim that she fears President Donald Trump is trying to subvert the 2026 elections.
“Feeling really concerned.”
“I stand here as an American senator, feeling really concerned about the 2026 elections in November,” Slotkin said at the Munich Security Conference in Germany recently. “He is telling us what he wants to do. He is laying it out for us. And it is up to the Americans to believe him, right?”

Slotkin continued: “Just like in 2020, he said, ‘If i don’t win, then it wasn’t a free and fair election.’ He is repeating the playbook, now threatening to put uniform federal agents around polling locations. He is telling us the playbook. The question is what are we going to do as Americans to defend our democracy that we helped invent?”
The SAVE Act.
Trump made a push to get the federal Voter ID law passed. The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act) would require proof of United States citizenship to register an individual to vote in elections for Federal office. It was passed by the U.S. House and is pending in the Senate.
In addition, Trump called for Republicans to “nationalize” voting in at least 15 states, and mentioned Detroit as a potential city to target.
“I want to see elections be honest, and if a state can’t run an election, I think the people behind me should do something about it,” Trump said, urging Congress to act.
Slotkin has made claims about Trump and elections in the past.
In November, she said, “He has one goal, making sure that he and his ilk never have to give up power.”
