LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — Lansing’s search for a site for its tiny-home project has ended in a county parking lot.
Mayor Andy Schor approved the Ingham County Human Services Building at 5303 S. Cedar St. as the location for the city’s 50-unit Nova Lansing Housing Initiative, a temporary housing development for homeless residents.
The city purchased the small, heated units earlier this year, pitching the project as a short-term stability hub with on-site services. Several locations were considered before two city advisory boards unanimously recommended the South Cedar site following community meetings and site reviews.
With the site selected, Schor said his team will begin negotiating terms with Ingham County to work out final details and move the project forward.
