ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – University of Michigan regent Jordan Acker wants to ban law enforcement from wearing masks on any of the university’s campuses.

Acker posted on X saying the U-M Board of Regents “can and should ban law enforcement from wearing masks on our campuses” as he replied to a Detroit Free Press story. The story was about a man at a grocery who covered his face and asked a Lebanese immigrant questions about a visa.

The article stated the masked man asked, among other questions, “Do you have a visa?” “Are you legal?” and “Where were you born?”

The article didn’t report that the masked man identified himself as a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. Instead, it reported that the Lebanese immigrant thought he was an ICE agent.

“This is an abuse of power and one that cannot be tolerated anywhere in Michigan,” Acker posted on X. “The @Umich Board of Regents can and should ban law enforcement from wearing masks on our campuses.”
