SAGINAW, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Former State Rep. Jewell Jones of Inkster will serve two years of probation for bringing guns into a Saginaw hospital last summer.
The 30-year-old Democrat was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a firearm on restricted premises.

In addition, Jones will serve six months of electronic monitoring and forfeited his right to own guns. Police found two unloaded firearms in Jones’ belongings while he was visiting a patient at Covenant HealthCare in August. Jones served six years in the Michigan House before leaving office in 2023.
