LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A federal judge blocked a Trump administration declaration that labeled sex change operations for minors as “unsafe and ineffective.”
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, and nearly two dozen attorneys general from other states, secured the summary judgement from Biden-appointed U.S. District Court Judge Mustafa Kasubhai. The ruling offers a brief respite for medical facilities who operate on children and teens who believe they are the opposite sex. The Trump administration declaration threatened to cut off Medicare and Medicaid funding for hospitals and clinics that provide so-called “gender affirming care.”

“Politicians should never drive medical decision-making,” said Attorney General Nessel. “I am relieved that the Court has affirmed that the federal government cannot unlawfully interfere with doctors providing essential healthcare, including treatments like puberty blockers and hormone therapy.”
Michigan News Source reached out to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for a comment but did not hear back by press time.
