Junior guard Elliot Cadeau led Michigan with 19 points. Senior forward Yaxel Lendeborg, who battled an injury, put up 13. Sophomore forward Morez Johnson Jr. added 12. UConn managed to come within four points of Michigan in the final minute, but the Wolverines lead for much of the game.
The Wolverines’ 2026 championship is the school’s first since 1989. That win came down to the final three seconds of the game with Rumeal Robinson’s crucial free throws sealing the win over Seton Hall.
Michigan was the runner-up in its four previous title game appearances, losing with the famed “Fab Five” in 1992 and 1993 and then again in 2013 and 2018.
