MARQUETTE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The body of 21-year-old Trenton Massey, a student at Northern Michigan University and a Corunna High School graduate, has been recovered from Lake Superior two months after he went missing.

The Marquette Police Department announced that Massey’s body was found on Friday afternoon submerged in the water of the Lower Harbor, north of the Shiras Dock. Volunteers from Hybrid Robotics, an underwater ROV manufacturing company located in Traverse City, found Massey’s body. Divers with the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office transferred the body to UP Health System-Marquette for an autopsy.

Police say Massey was last seen on surveillance footage “disoriented and having difficulty walking” in the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 22. He was likely attempting to walk home, police said.

Massey’s family held a memorial for him on Monday, April 20.
