EMMET COUNTY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Pellston Regional Airport is still swamped after historic flooding, and officials are hoping a third water pump will clear standing water from the runways and restore normal operations.

Airport officials say runway closures have been extended until Friday.

The standing water poses other problems. Pellston Regional Airport Director Jeff Mallory told Up North Live, “With the water standing like this, it brings unwanted water, waterfowl and wildlife.”

In addition, Mallory said the financial impacts of the flooding likely won’t be known for at least a year.
