WASHINGTON, D.C. (Michigan News Source) – U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-Michigan), part of the “Seditious Six” that created the “refuse illegal orders” video, would consider a presidential run in 2028 if her party needs her.
Slotkin made the comment while promoting Democratic candidates in Iowa this week. She said her focus is helping elect Democrats in November, but has learned to never rule out anything in politics.

“I’m not so arrogant as to think it has to be me,” Slotkin told the Des Moines Register. “Midterms is what I’m focused on right now, but if it comes to the point afterwards that I think there’s not anyone else who’s on the right path, I guess I wouldn’t say no forever.”
In another comment to the media, Slotkin said she’s “clear-eyed” about the problems and challenges in the Democratic party. “I’m interested in being a part of the next generation who’s going to rehab the Democratic brand,” Slotkin told the Associated Press.
Slotkin worked as a CIA analyst before being elected to the House of Representatives in 2018; she promotes herself as a moderate but consistently votes with Democrats. She was elected to the Senate in 2024.
