LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A stretch of US-131 in the Kalamazoo area will bear the name of a U.S. airman who died in Afghanistan in 2015.

Under a new law signed this week, US-131 between I-94 and Parkview Avenue will bear the name of Kalamazoo native Master Sgt. Gregory Kuhse. He died on Oct. 11, 2015 when the British helicopter he was flying in crashed in Afghanistan. He was 38.

Kuhse graduated from Comstock High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force for 19 years. His obituary described him as “an extraordinary man” who deeply loved his wife and four children.
